To help youngsters develop citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well being through sports. To help youngsters learn their own strengths & weaknesses, the meanings of sportsmanship and cooperation, the essence of competition, and the qualities that constitute effective leadership.
Tee-Ball 1 (Co-ed): League Age 4
Tee Ball 1 is for boys and girls 4 years old who want to learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. In Tee Ball, players hit ball off a batting tee. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching and should focus on fun, fitness, and fundamentals. The primary goals of Tee Ball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball/softball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork.
Tee Ball 2 (Co-ed): League Age 5 to 6
Tee Ball 2 is for boys and girls 5 to 6 years old who want to continue to learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. In Tee Ball 2, players hit ball off a batting tee. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching and should focus on fun, fitness, and fundamentals. The primary goals of Tee Ball 2 are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball/softball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork.
Rookies Baseball: League Age 7 to 8
Machine Pitch Baseball is the first time players will be able to hit live pitching, albeit off of a coach/machine. A regulation baseball is also used for the first time. There is an increased focus on playing ‘real’ baseball, with defensive positioning reinforced and innings potentially ending based on 3 outs being achieved as opposed to batting through an entire order.
Minors Baseball: League Age 9 to 10
Minors baseball is a player and coach pitch environment. This is ‘real’ baseball, in the sense that a formal 9-player positional alignment is utilized, the official Little League rule-book is enforced, umpires are present to control the action and scores & standings are kept. Although these divisions operate with a slight increase in competitiveness, the primary focus is on personal development and encouragement. SALL coaches are encouraged to rotate positions and batting orders to ensure all players receive opportunities to bat near the top of the lineup and to play various infield and outfield positions.
Majors Baseball: League Age 11-12
Majors baseball is a player-pitch environment. Juniors Baseball: League Age 13-14
The Junior League Baseball Division is a program using a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet, 6 inches. Modified diamond dimensions may be used during the regular season.
Minor's Softball: League Age 7-10
Minors softball is the first time players will be able to hit from a live pitcher. There are a certain amount of pitches that each pitcher can throw then coach pitch is implemented if there was no strike-out or hit made. Players will be rotated around the field and within the batting order to encourage learning different positions.
Majors Softball: League Age 11-12
